Sterling honored by retired teachers

Jim Sterling , who retired from the Sylvan Union School District in 2008, received the Ruth Q. de Prida award for giving back to the community as a member of the California Retired Teachers Association. Sterling joined the association in 2009; he served as Division 38 president, insurance chairman and newsletter editor. He also is communications and technology chairman for Area VI and chairman of the newly formed state insurance information research group. The award was established in 1984. De Prida spent more than five decades lobbying for children’s hospitals, schools, teachers and retired teachers.
