A woman suffered major injuries Wednesday night when a pickup stuck her as she was crossing a street in west Modesto.
Naimah Barron, 34, tried to cross Emerald Avenue, just north of Elm Avenue, when she was hit by a GMC pickup. The pickup was heading south on Emerald about 9:40 p.m., said Modesto police spokeswoman Heather Graves.
The pickup’s driver, 34-year-old Adam Lancaster, stopped and waited for authorities to arrive.
Barron was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Graves said the woman suffered a broken neck and pelvis, along with a laceration on her head but was expected to survive.
Graves also said Barron is blind in her left eye, which might have contributed to the incident. Officers, however, continued to investigate other possible causes.
