What: VETERANS ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING

Where: Stanislaus County Library community room, 1500 I St.
Info: The Stanislaus County Veterans Advisory Commission meets the fourth Monday of every month. The commission is looking for participation from interested veterans and family members who can attend the commission meetings. The purpose of the commission is to represent all veterans in Stanislaus County by advising the Board of Supervisors and staff on matters pertaining to veterans. What: PROSTATE CANCER SUPPORT GROUP

Info: The Us-Too Prostate Support Group for men diagnosed with prostate cancer meets the fourth Monday of each month. This month’s program will feature members sharing their personal journeys with prostate cancer. Friends and family are encouraged to attend. What: NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH AND ALLIANCE MEETING

Info: The DelWood Neighborhood Watch and Neighborhood Alliance will meet. The group is made up of volunteers who work together to make the neighborhood a safe and better place to live. For more information, email email@example.com.
What: ZOMBIE PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM
When: Today, 3:30 p.m.
Where: Turlock Library, 550 Minaret Ave.
Info: Speaker David Becker will present zombie preparedness tips that may be instrumental in a real-life disaster scenario. Teens will learn how to ready themselves for an emergency and learn valuable survival skills. Following the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to assemble their own safety kit to take home. To learn more, call the Turlock Library at (209) 664-8100. When: Saturday, 1 p.m.

Info: Children can express their creativity and tap into their imaginations while enjoying the artistic medium of clay. The program is free and sponsored by the Friends of the Newman Library. For more information, call the Newman Library, (209) 862-2010.
40 YEARS AGO: The Modesto City Council and Mayor Lee H. Davies passed an ordinance regulating explicit sex scenes and the showing of nudity at drive-in theaters. The purpose of the ordinance was “to keep the city from becoming the smut capital of the San Joaquin Valley,” Mayor Lee said.
