Grants available for Stanislaus County children’s programs

Grants for Stanislaus County children’s programs are still available through the Make Dreams Real Endowment, which this year funded outdoor education, the Girl Scouts and bike camp for children with disabilities.

The Make Dreams Real Endowment Fund, founded by Carl and Carole Boyett of Boyett Petroleum, has extended the grant application deadline to Sept. 15 for $36,000 in funding to meet the fund’s 2014 goal of $80,000.

The fund provides support for children’s programs and service learning in Stanislaus County. With this round of grants, the fund’s awards will top $280,000 since its 2009 founding. Funds are raised solely through the annual Make Dreams Real Golf Tournament, held in May, and the Online Charity Sale, which continues at www.makedreamsrealgolf.com/sale.

The Make Dreams Real Advisory Board has awarded $44,000 during this grant cycle to the Society for Disabilities’ Adapted Bike Camp, the Girl Scouts Heart of Central California, and Foothill Horizons Outdoor School for students in Salida Union, Stanislaus Union and Empire Union school districts and Cardozo Middle School in Riverbank.
