The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office on Thursday identified a Ceres man killed in a crash near Westley Wednesday afternoon.
Francisco Javier Padilla, 43, of Ceres died in the accident, which was reported at 2:13 p.m.
According to the CHP, Daniel Bays, 27, of Patterson was driving a 2012 Ford F-150 pickup north on Highway 33 when he slowed to turn left on Frank Cox Road. Bays failed to see a 2006 Harley Davidson riden by Padilla heading south on Highway 33 and turned into its path, the CHP said.
Padilla did not have time to react. The motorcycle hit the front of the truck, ejecting the rider and becoming lodged in the front of the Ford.
Padilla, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. Bays was not hurt. Investigators have determined that drugs or alcohol was not a factor in the collision, the CHP said.
