Community Briefing

Looking for an inexpensive way to cool off this summer? Public recreational swimming is available Mondays through Saturdays (except July Fourth) from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Davis and Downey high school pools in Modesto. Davis is at 1200 W. Rumble Road, and Downey is at 1000 Coffee Road. The Downey pool will be closed this Saturday. Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for ages 17 and younger, and $1.25 for seniors 62 and older. Because of maintenance issues, the Johansen High pool is not open this summer. For more information, call the Modesto Parks, Recreation and Neighborhoods Department at (209) 577-5344.
