OIL FILTER EXCHANGE RETURNS TO MODESTO

The city of Modesto once again is sponsoring its Used Oil Filter Exchange Program. Residents can take oil filters to be recycled to any participating O’Reilly Auto Parts or Auto Zone in Stanislaus County from July 11-13 and receive a new, comparable filter free of charge. There are conditions: The limit is one filter per customer per event. Maximum filter value cannot exceed $12.99. Passenger vehicle and light truck oil filters only. Individuals only, no businesses. Replacement oil filters shall be “off the shelf” and of standard quality. Replacement filters are limited to stock on hand; no special orders. No premium oil filters will be issued. Filters may not be returned for refunds and may be exchanged only for another oil filter.

MEDICARE ADVISERS WILL VISIT TURLOCK

The Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program is holding office hours once a month at the Turlock branch of the Stanislaus County Library to make it easier for residents to access services that otherwise are available at the main office in Modesto. Stanislaus County HICAP offers free assistance to help people understand their Medicare options. Whether they are turning 65 and are new to Medicare, or want to better understand their current health plan, or want to compare Medicare Advantage plans and supplements, HICAP can help. It also can help Medicare beneficiaries apply for programs that can help pay for some Medicare costs, such as prescription drug plan premiums or co-payments, or appeal Medicare denials for a covered treatment or service. Appointments will be available the third Tuesday of each month at 1, 2 or 3 p.m. HICAP recommends calling (209) 558-4540 to schedule an appointment.
