Vehicle crash in north Modesto leaves 2 dead, 1 badly hurt

Two people died from injuries suffered in a collision Monday evening on Dale Road by the entrance to Kaiser Modesto Medical Center. A third suffered major injuries, Modesto police said.

Two people died from injuries suffered in a collision Monday evening on Dale Road at its intersection with the entrance to Kaiser Modesto Medical Center. A third suffered major injuries and was going into surgery, Modesto police spokeswoman Heather Graves said shortly after 9 p.m.

Five people were in a minivan heading south on Dale when the vehicle collided with a pickup truck leaving the Kaiser parking lot. An early report said rescuers were performing CPR on two patients, while a third was unresponsive.

The two people killed and one hurt all were in the minivan, Graves said. The pickup driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was not hurt, she said. That driver and someone in the minivan reported having the green light when the crash occurred, Graves said.

The Modesto Police Department’s traffic unit was on the scene Monday evening and had Dale taped off at Bangs and Kiernan avenues.
