A Sonora woman is in critical condition after she was run over by a car leaving a shopping center in Sonora over the weekend.

Dianna Greener, 54, was walking with Arthur Greener, 69, north on Greenley Road through one of the driveways at Sonora Plaza on Saturday afternoon when they were hit by a Jeep Cherokee leaving the shopping center, according to Sonora police.

Charlene Chapman, 32, of Jamestown reportedly stopped the Jeep briefly to check for traffic but didn’t see the couple crossing in front of her.

As Chapman moved forward to enter Greenley Road, she struck Dianna Greener, knocking her down and then ran her over, police said.

Dianna Greener was forced into Arthur Greener as she fell, knocking him to the ground, as well.

Dianna suffered major injuries to her head and legs. She was flown to a Modesto hospital, where she remains in an intensive care unit.

Arthur Greener was taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center for treatment for injuries to his side and back and was released Monday.

Chapman has not been charged with a crime. The accident remains under investigation.
