Sheep, cherries, eggs and other attractions await on the seventh annual Farm and Ranch Tour in Tuolumne County, set for June 14.
The tour, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will feature Groveland and other parts of the south county for the first time. Participants may drive to the five stops in any order after buying tickets, which are $8 in advance or $10 that day. Those 18 and younger get in for free.
The tour will highlight the diverse operations that have popped up amid the cattle ranches and forest that dominate the landscape. The stops are:• Lazy G Bar Ranch, 17331 Corcoran-Gray Road. It will show off horses, mules, donkeys, beef cattle and rabbits, as well as horseshoeing and riding demonstrations.
• Deer Creek Cherry Farm, 12221 Deer Creek Road. It has 300 trees growing the Montmorency variety of sour cherries.
• Mountain Sage Nursery, 18653 Main St. It will offer a farmers market, water conservation clinics and a post-tour concert.
• Big Creek Meadow Ranch, 10551 Smith Station Road. It has sheep, wool craft demonstrations and a bed-and-breakfast.
• Red Tail Ranch, 22307 Ferretti Road. It produces eggs from free-range hens and also has a bed-and-breakfast.
The tour will feature hay rides, live music and other activities, along with product samples and sales from the sites and other members of Farms of Tuolumne County, which is sponsoring the event.
