A motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries when he collided with a car in downtown Oakdale late Friday afternoon.

A motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries when he collided with a car in downtown Oakdale late Friday afternoon.

The 43-year-old man was traveling north on Yosemite Avenue just before 5 p.m. when he hit a Ford Five Hundred sedan that was traveling south on Yosemite and making an eastbound turn onto E Street, said police Sgt. Joe Carrillo.

Officers performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the man for several minutes before an ambulance arrived. He was taken to Oak Valley Hospital in Oakdale, where he was pronounced dead, according to a news release from Sgt. Ben Savage.

The 18-year-old female driver of the Ford and her passenger were not injured, Savage said.

It does not appear drugs or alcohol were a factor, Carrillo said, and the cyclist was wearing a helmet.

Police did not release the names of the people involved in the collision.

Yosemite between D and F streets was closed for several hours while police investigated the collision with the assistance of the California Highway Patrol.
