Update: The road reopened shortly after 8 a.m.
Authorities have closed both northbound lanes of Highway 99 north of Franklin Road after two big rigs crashed early Monday. Several other vehicles also were involved.
The accident, reported at 12:11 a.m., resulted in minor injuries, the California Highway Patrol said, but a big mess. Gas spilled onto the road, as did meat apparently from one of the big rigs.
As of 6:52 a.m., the lanes remained blocked, with no estimated time of reopening, the CHP said.
