A car turning left off Maze Boulevard at Spencer Road was hit broadside by an oncoming SUV Saturday at 3:20 p.m., injuring four and tying up traffic for more than an hour at the west Modesto intersection.
According to an early California Highway Patrol report that included no names, an Acura Legend driven by a Modesto woman, 22, was driving west on Maze and turned left at Spencer Avenue in front of an oncoming Dodge Durango.
The driver was uninjured in the crash, but a female passenger suffered major injuries, said CHP Sgt. John O’Neil. Two boys, ages 12 and 15, and a 2-year-old girl in the back seat had minor injuries.
The driver of the Durango, a 55-year-old man, was not injured. The Durango driver was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, but investigators determined he did not contribute to the crash, O’Neil said.
