Fire damages home, cars in Turlock

A fire in Turlock on Friday destroyed a garage and two parked cars and damaged a neighbor’s roof, authorities said.

A fire in Turlock destroyed a garage and two parked cars and damaged the roof of a neighboring home, authorities said.

According to the Turlock Fire Department, the fire was reported at 4:50 p.m. Friday in the 1200 block of Glasgow St. The neighborhood is on the southwest side of town.

Firefighters arrived to find a garage engulfed in flames that consumed two cars parked in the driveway and spread next door.

Firefighters contained the fire, "preserving the next-door residence with minimal damage," the department said in a news release.

The fire was controlled within 30 minutes. Two adults and one child were displaced; the Red Cross was called to help.

Damage to the structure and contents was estimated at $145,000; the cause was undetermined.
