2 escape house fire in Modesto

A house fire in north-central Modesto caused about $250,000 in damage and sent one firefighter to the hospital for heat exhaustion Friday.

A house fire in north-central Modesto caused about $250,000 in damage and sent one firefighter to the hospital for heat exhaustion Friday.

The fire was reported at 8:05 p.m. at a home in the 3100 block of Waltham Way , which is west of McHenry Avenue and north of West Rumble Road.

Twenty-eight firefighters put the blaze out within 30 minutes, said Modesto Regional Fire Authority Division Chief Sean Slamon in a news release.

The two people inside the home got out safely.

But one firefighter was treated and released at a hospital for heat exhaustion, according to the news release.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
