As temperatures are predicted to reach triple-digits on Sunday, weather forecasters issued a warning about impending thunderstorms.
The National Weather Service reported Saturday morning that thunderstorms beginning Sunday and lasting into the week will bring a threat of possible lightning-fueled fire and minor flooding in the Sierra and surrounding foothills.
A low pressure system off the coast could bring the unpredictable conditions, the weather service said.
A high of 97 degrees is expected on Saturday in the Modesto area with temperatures at or above 100 on Sunday and Monday. Cooler conditions are expected by mid-week.
