A mild week ahead as temperatures drop below normal

It’s early August in the Northern San Joaquin Valley, and that means ... temperatures in the 80s?
Indeed, according to the National Weather Service. An upper level trough off the coast and Delta breezes will keep temperatures several degrees lower than normal for this time of year.
Forecasters predict a high of 90 in Modesto today and Tuesday, followed by high temperatures only in the mid to high 80s later in the week. At night, lows are expected to dip into the high 50s.
The same system will bring a slight chance of thunderstorms to the Sierras, though nothing is expected in the valley other than a few clouds.
Enjoy the respite while it lasts. Forecasters predict highs returning to the more normal 90s by the end of the weekend.
