Two drivers suffered major injuries Tuesday evening and were flown to Modesto hospitals after their vehicles collided head-on in Jamestown, the California Highway Patrol reported. The drivers are both from Jamestown.
The crash occurred shortly before 7 p.m. on Jamestown Road near Golf Links Road. Annadine Matheny, 41, was driving a 1994 Mazda, heading south and approaching Golf Links Road.
The CHP said she was driving too fast and passing other vehicles over a double-yellow line, and was straddling the double-yellow line as she tried to negotiate a right curve near Golf Links Road.
That's when the Mazda crashed with a northbound 1997 Buick driven by 66-year-old Robert Roberson.
Roberson was pinned inside his vehicle until authorities freed him.
The CHP said officers were investigating Matheny for the possibility she was driving under the influence. Matheny, however, had not been arrested as of early Wednesday.
