Wildfire growing near Copperopolis

Officials in Calaveras County on Monday afternoon reported a vegetation fire that was spreading and threatening structures.

The Chuckwagon fire was burning near the 4500 block of Chuckwagon Way. It had grown from 10 acres to 25 acres, according to the state Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

As of Monday afternoon, the fire was 40 percent contained. The fire has destroyed one outbuilding.

A news release from the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department said area residents had been notified, but no evacuations were in place.
