It’s been a nice break, but it is summertime in the Central Valley, so there should be no surprise that triple digits are making their way back.
The National Weather Service forecasts highs in the upper 90s in the Modesto area today, and topping the century mark by the weekend, with highs of 102 expected Saturday and Sunday.
Areas to the north of us will be even hotter, with the northern Sacramento Valley expecting highs around 110, thanks to a high pressure system, the Weather Service says.
However, unlike the earlier extended heat wave, there is relief in sight: a subtle cooling trend is expected to start early next week, returning us to the double digits.
