A motorcyclist died Sunday afternoon in an accident near Winton.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist, a 42-year-old man from Winton whose name was not released, was riding south on Shaffer Road approaching Walnut Avenue when the accident occurred at about 3 p.m.
Ajaypaul Saini, 27, of Livingston, was driving a 1999 Toyota 4Runner north on Shaffer when Saini turned left into the path of the motorcycle, a 2001 Honda CBR.
The motorcycle hit the 4Runner, which in turn struck a 2013 Land Rover Range Rover driven by Pardeep Takhar, 31, of Winton. All three vehicles came to rest in the intersection. The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene. The other two drivers were not hurt.
The CHP said investigation into the accident continues, and it’s not clear if drugs or alcohol was a factor.
