A taco truck and a pickup collided in downtown Modesto on Thursday morning, backing up traffic and shearing off a fire hydrant.
One person was taken by ambulance for treatment of possible injuries after the accident at Sixth and I streets. The taco truck ended up on top of the hydrant, with water spraying into the air. The Ford Ranger pickup sustained heavy damage to the driver's side.
Some water got into The Salvation Army Child Development Center, located on that corner.
Westbound traffic between Sixth and Seventh streets was closed while city water department workers and firefighters tried to close off the water flow, and a flatbed tow truck removed the taco truck. Modesto police officers were investigating the cause of the crash.
