Representatives from law enforcement agencies throughout the state attended a ceremony Monday to dedicate the Peace Officers Memorial Monument in Sacramento.
The ceremony honored two officers who died in 2012: Stanislaus County Sheriff's Deputy Robert Lee Paris Jr. and California Highway Patrol Officer Kenyon Youngstrom.
Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson was the keynote speaker at a vigil ceremony Sunday night.
Youngstrom was to be honored again Tuesday at a CHP remembrance ceremony at its academy in West Sacramento. A memorial there holds names of 223 CHP officers killed in the line of duty through 2012.
