Two-car wreck leaves man dead east of Modesto

A 43-year-old Turlock man died in a vehicle accident at Claribel and Bentley roads east of Modesto on Monday.

The crash was reported at 7 a.m. after a Toyota and a sport utility vehicle collided.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the Turlock man, whose name had not been released, was driving west on Claribel in a 1999 Toyota Corolla.

Oscar Ibarra, 22, of Oakdale was driving a late-model Jeep on Bentley. Witnesses said Ibarra went through the stop sign before the cars hit.

The impact of the accident sent both vehicles into a field at the northwest corner of the intersection. Information on Ibarra’s condition was not available.
