A fire that broke out in a bedroom of a west Modesto home Friday evening spread to the attic, causing extensive damage, firefighters said.
Nobody was injured in the fire, which was reported about 6:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of Normandy Drive, authorities said.
The blaze broke out in a front bedroom, said Peter Golling, assistant chief of the Burbank Paradise Fire Department. A Modesto Regional Fire engine and crew also responded. Golling said it took firefighters 26 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and a damage estimate had not been completed.
The fire displaced two adults and three children who lived in the home, Golling said.
