Two Jamestown residents were airlifted to Modesto hospitals Tuesday morning after the car they were in crashed at high speed into a telephone pole north of Jamestown.
John McAllister, 18, was driving a Honda Civic with passenger Cindy Pender, 19, south on Jamestown Road near Golf Links Road, at an unknown but high speed at 7:20 a.m.
McAllister lost control of the Honda in a right curve and drove onto the shoulder, according to the California Highway Patrol. He then overcorrected to the left and the car crashed into a telephone pole on the left shoulder.
McAllister suffered moderate injuries, and Pender suffered major injuries that were described by the CHP as internal blunt force trauma as a result of the crash.
Both were taken to Modesto hospitals. The crash is under investigation.
