A traffic stop in Turlock on Wednesday led to the arrest of a Turlock teenager and seizure of seven guns.
At about 5:30 p.m., officers with the Turlock police Criminal Apprehension and Gang Enforcement Team pulled over Francisco Soto, 19, for a minor vehicle code violation, officer Mayra Lewis said in a news release.
Soto gave officers permission to search his vehicle and his residence; in the trunk, they found a black 12-gauge Mossberg shotgun. A check of the shotgun's serial number showed it had been reported stolen.
While searching Soto's residence, officers located six more firearms, including a rifle. Soto was arrested and booked on felony possession of a stolen shotgun.
The Turlock Police Department participates in Crime Stoppers; callers can leave an anonymous tip by calling (209) 521-4636 and may be eligible for a reward.
