Chávez festival set for Saturday in Modesto

Modesto's 17th annual César E. Chávez Family Day Celebration is Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at the city's Maddux Youth Center, 615 Sierra Drive.
The celebration includes art displays, speeches, poetry and community resources. Refreshments will be provided.
Chávez, who died in 1993, co-founded the United Farm Workers union.
The city's Parks, Recreation and Neighborhoods Department is working with the Stanislaus Grassroots Coalition, El Concilio and Latino Community Roundtable on the free event.
