You might want to bring an umbrella to your egg hunt. A spring storm is moving in this weekend, and the National Weather Service predicts lower temperatures and a good chance of rain.

Or, as the official forecast puts it, “Outdoor activities could be impacted by showery conditions and afternoon thunderstorms.”

Forecasters predict a third of an inch or so of rain in the Northern San Joaquin Valley, with 2 to 6 inches of snow above 6,500 feet.

Today’s high in Modesto is expected to be 78 degrees, with temperatures dropping a few degrees each day through the weekend. Some showers could move in late tonight, with rain more likely Saturday afternoon and evening and into Sunday.

For those families with children on spring break next week, it looks like things will dry out by Monday afternoon, with sunny conditions through Thursday. But there’s another potential storm moving in later in the week, the weather service says.
