A Valley Springs teen-ager suffered major injuries after a speeding car he was riding in went off the road and hit a telephone pole near San Andreas Thursday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol said.
Justin Jarris, 18, was riding in a 1965 Chevrolet driven by Austin Greenough, 19, of Valley Springs east on Double Springs Road at 2 p.m. The car was going too fast when it hit a dip in the road and the driver couldn’t keep control, the CHP said.
The car went off the road and into a fence before hitting the telephone pole. Jarris was taken to the University of California at Davis Medical Center for treatment. Greenough suffered minor injuries, as did two other passengers, Charles Sims, 15, and Austin Rowe, 19, both of Valley Springs.
AT&T was called out to repair the pole.
