As firefighters in Turlock battled the massive fire at the former Lactalis plant Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, three more fires broke out in the area.
Two of them were small, but the third damaged a duplex on Castor Street. According to the Turlock Fire Department, firefighters responded to a call at 2:12 a.m. in the 500 block of Castor.
They found heavy smoke coming from the common attic of the duplex, where a fire was spreading rapidly through distribution ducts.
The fire caused heavy damage to the attic and to structural ceiling supports; the estimated damage is $30,000.
Two people were displaced; they chose to stay with family members.
