Woman killed in accident near Oakdale

A 24-year-old woman from Sonora died Thursday morning in a head-on collision at Orange Blossom and Horseshoe roads, the California Highway Patrol reported.
A 40-year-old Riverbank man suffered major injuries. The CHP reported the collision at 6:36 a.m. at the intersection northeast of Oakdale.
Two vehicles were involved in the incident. According to the CHP. the woman, whose name was not released, was driving north on Orange Blossom when her 1999 Honda veered into the southbound lanes of the road.
The 40-year-old man from Riverbank was driving a Toyota Tacoma south on Orange Blossom and saw the Honda, the CHP said. He moved his truck to the right shoulder but could not avoid the car.
The man in the Tacoma was wearing a seat belt; the woman in the Honda was not, authorities said.
The Toyota was going 40 to 45 mph, the CHP said. It's not known how fast the Honda was going.
The accident is under investigation.
