Hundreds of fans showed up in the cold this morning to send off the Oakdale High football team, which will play for a state championship in Southern California on Saturday.
The high school drumline performed while players packed their duffel bags, snacks and drink for the roughly six-hour trip to Carson.
In addition to well-wishers at the school, fans lined the streets downtown Oakdale, including one small group in front of the Sconza Candy Co., waving an American flag and holding a sign that read "Go Oakdale."
The bus also had a police and fire department escort through town.
Never miss a local story.
Oakdale, the NorCal Division 2 champion, will play Serra of Gardena at 4 p.m. Saturday.
