Book of Dreams donations top $16,000

Generous Bee readers have contributed more than $16,000 to the annual Book of Dreams effort. That’s a great start to bring some holiday cheer to some of the neediest residents of our community, which last year brought in $53,000.

That’s a great start to bring some holiday cheer to some of the neediest residents of our community, which last year brought in $53,000.

Again this year, The Bee has focused its efforts on organizations that help provide the basics to those who can’t afford them in our community, particularly children. The participating nonprofit groups help people get food, pay utility bills, or find a place to sleep out of the cold.

Among those benefitting are Hutton House, which serves at-risk or runaway children, Haven, which offers help to victims of domestic violence, and Meals on Wheels, which brings a hot lunch and a little social interaction to senior citizen shut-ins.
