At last, it’s time to break out the sweaters and the boots.

Forecasters are calling for a steep dip in temperatures today after an early part of the week that saw us in the 80s. The high this afternoon is expected to be only 64.

And some rain is expected to arrive along with the cold. National Weather Service forecasters predict a 30 percent chance of showers later this morning.

The likelihood of showers increases tonight, when the low will drop to 43 degrees. Colder conditions mean snow will fall lower. Snowfall is predicted as low as Twain Harte over the next couple of days.

Friday, forecasters predict a good chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high only near 57.

Come the weekend, conditions are expected to be clear but cold with highs in the high 50s.
