Stanislaus County's planning department has another Freitas at the helm. Angela Freitas was appointed Tuesday as the department's director — four years after Ron Freitas retired from the same position. They are not related.
Angela Freitas had been interim director since Ron Freitas' successor, Kirk Ford, retired in March. Angela
Freitas was raised on a small farm in the Modesto area and attended Modesto High School and Modesto Junior College before earning a planning degree at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
She came to the department as an intern in 1998, was hired the next year and became deputy director in January 2008. Her salary will be $122,179.
In closed session, county supervisors confirmed Freitas' appointment on a 4-1 vote with Bill O'Brien dissenting.
