Authorities reported that a 48-year-old Modesto man drowned this afternoon at Woodward Reservoir, which is a few miles north of Oakdale.

Stanislaus County sheriff’s Sgt. Anthony Bejaran said the man was swimming with his family at Muir Point about 2 p.m. when he went under the water. His family pulled him out and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Bejaran said deputies continued CPR until an ambulance transported the man to Oak Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
