Oakdale police are looking for a man who left behind a backpack containing a pipe bomb after he fought off an officer and fled the scene.
Police say David Lee Geren 24, was stopped by an officer this morning 12:34 as he was walking in the 400 block of S. Third Avenue, according to Sgt. Joseph Carrillo.

The Oakdale Police Department, which is nearby, was evacuated. The Stanislaus County Bomb Squad was called in and detonated the device, Carrillo said.
Geren is described as white, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, about 140 pounds with brown hair.
He’s wanted for resisting arrest, assault on a peace officer and possession of an explosive device.
