The Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday:
Approved a formal response to the 2007-08 civil grand jury report on the county animal shelter. The board agreed with a grand jury finding that the Animal Services Department operates within the constraints of an inadequate facility. The county and cities are moving ahead with plans to replace the shelter on Finch Road, the response says.
Adopted a plan to recover property tax administration costs from cities, fire protection agencies and other special districts. The local agencies are expected to pay their share of the $6,291,129 in administration costs for 2006-07.
- Approved a $2,641,125 contract for Lodi-based Diede Construction Inc. to design and build the Empire community swimming pool. Facilities will include a five-lane, 25-yard pool and a recreational spray playground. The county hopes to have the swimming center built and ready for use by Memorial Day weekend 2009.
