Kids' Day feast
Eat at Fuddruckers today and help raise funds for youth programs at Salvation Army facilities in Modesto and Turlock. The restaurant at 3848 McHenry Ave. in Modesto will donate a percentage of its net sales from 5 to 9 p.m. to support Kids' Day. Cut out this item, bring it to the restaurant and give it to the cashier when ordering. One clipping is needed for each receipt.

Sawyer Brown on fair schedule
Veteran country music group Sawyer Brown will play the Stanislaus County Fair on July 27. The group, which rose to fame after winning "Star Search" in 1983, will perform on the Variety Free Stage. The group had hits with "Some Girls Do," "The Walk" and "Six Days on the Road." All concerts this year are included in the price of fair admission. The fair begins its 10-day run July 25. 50 YEARS AGO: An ultramodern irrigation system, with automatic underground valves to regulate the flow of water, was being installed in the two-acre plot of land being developed at the Masonic Cemetery on Scenic Drive. Oscar Thrasher, cemetery superintendent, described the irrigation system as the most modern available.
25 YEARS AGO: Carl Lewis became the second-fastest 100-meter sprinter in history winning in 9.96 seconds, and Edwin Moses won his 73rd consecutive 400-meter hurdles race at the S&W Modesto Invitational track meet.
