PATTERSON -- Authorities say a man at Felipe Garza Park was stabbed 12 times Thursday night after being asked by gang members if he was affiliated with a rival gang.
The man, 27, was with a friend about 9:40 p.m. when they were approached by three gang members, said deputy Royjindar Singh, spokesman for the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department.
Asked if he belonged to a rival gang, the victim said no. But his friend said he had belonged at one time, Singh said, at which point the victim was stabbed.
The gang members left, and the friend drove the victim to the hospital, Singh said. The man was reported in good condition.
