MERCED -- A Dos Palos man accused of killing his 3-year-old daughter pleaded not guilty to homicide and child endangerment charges in Merced County Superior Court.
Jericho Wright, 26, maintained a stoic expression throughout his brief arraignment Tuesday in the death of Liadan Eva Wright.
Wright was arrested Feb. 25 after placing a call to Dos Palos police, saying he had found his daughter dead that morning.
Investigators said the girl hit her head after Wright had pushed her into a cold shower as punishment the previous day because she wet herself twice in one day.
Never miss a local story.
A few hours after throwing the girl in the shower, investigators said, Wright put her to bed after she told him she was tired. He woke up at 3:30 a.m. Feb. 25 to deliver newspapers, saying the girl appeared all right before he left. Wright returned a few hours later and found the girl cold and stiff to the touch.
He remains at John Latoracca Correctional Center in lieu of $1.5 million bail.
