The Modesto City Council on Tuesday unanimously voted to:
Set aside $30,000 for Modesto to join Oakdale, Riverbank and the county for a study of an expressway across northern Stanislaus County
Hire The Greenspan Co./Adjusters International, a West Coast company with several California offices, to assist the city in pursuing an insurance claim for the old John Muir schoolhouse on East Morris Avenue. The building was destroyed in a fire last month, along with its contents. Greenspan will be entitled to a percentage of what the city receives on its claim.
Sign off on a program allowing the city to board up abandoned homes and place liens on the properties for their cleanup
Approve an agreement that makes the Modesto Fire Department the first resource for emergency services in two west Modesto unincorporated county islands, instead of the Woodland Avenue Fire Protection District. Modesto's department has closer stations to the islands, and its firefighters respond to calls in those neighborhoods.
Close a project that fixed an eroded bank along the Tuolumne River for $307,000, about $200,000 less than the work was estimated to cost
