An informational meeting about Modesto's efforts to stabilize rent at mobile home parks is set for Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Discussion will center on how the rent ordinance affects current and future mobile home residents. Mobile home residents are encouraged to attend.
Attendees can ask questions of Modesto's city attorney, a mobile home park owner and two park residents, all of whom helped draft the city's rent policy.
The Modesto Mobile Home Rent Stabilization Ordinance was adopted in October by the Modesto City Council. The ordinance provides limits to the amount a mobile home park owner can raise space rents in a year.
And if a park owner is willing to provide eligible residents with an opportunity to sign a city-approved long-term lease, the park owner can sign a memo of understanding with the city that exempts the park from the ordinance.
The meeting is at the Mo- desto Senior Citizens Center, 211 Bodem St.
Details of the ordinance will be provided at the meeting as well as information on the rent subsidy program.
