HOLIDAY DINERS, DONORS WELCOME: The Human Services Club at Modesto Junior College will sponsor a holiday dinner for the homeless or anyone who expects to go hungry during the holidays. Organizers are asking for donations for the hot meal as well as for nonfood goods. Items needed include vegetables, bread, beverages, coffee, utensils, plates, napkins, blankets, clothing, toiletries and baby products. The dinner is set for Nov. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church at 12th and Needham streets. People also can volunteer to help on the day of the supper. DROP OFF FOOD, GIFTS: Anyone wanting to donate items to benefit the Modesto Gospel Mission or Haven Women's Center of Stanislaus County can drop off donations now through Nov. 30 at four Modesto Junior College barrels. Needed items include canned goods, nonperishable groceries, and new and used clothing for the mission; and unwrapped gifts for children and women for the women's center. The drive is organized by the American Association for Women in Community Colleges at MJC.
