Modesto maestro off to solid start

Commission weighs Village I Walgreens
A pitch to bring a Walgreens drug store to northeast Modesto at Floyd and Roselle avenues is scheduled to appear before the Modesto Planning Commission on Monday. City planners are urging the commission to reject the proposal, citing concerns about traffic and lighting for a 24-hour drugstore.

Veterans dinner, dancing in Ceres
Ceres Post and Unit 491 of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary will host an evening of dinner and dancing with a USO theme Nov. 11, from 5 to 11 p.m. Dinner will be catered by Neto's, with tri-tip and chicken.
