25 YEARS AGO: It was announced that during the summer of 1990, pilots from the Navy’s Moffett Field in Mountain View would be using the Crows Landing air base for practice flights. They would be training in Marine Corps Harrier jets, capable of taking off vertically when lack of runway is a problem. The jet was originally invented by the British in the 1960s.
