An Oakdale man died Monday morning when his Kia drifted into the path of a semi truck traveling in the opposite direction on Highway 120, authorities said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Robert Macfarlane, 57, was traveling west on the highway near Von Glahn Road about 7:15 a.m. when for unknown reasons his 2015 Kia drifted into the eastbound lane.
The Kia collided head-on with a semi truck pulling two trailers, according to the CHP.
Macfarlane died from injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the semi truck, 56-year-old Silvestre Gutierrez, of Stockton, was not injured.
The highway was closed in both directions near Van Glahn Road for about five hours while officers investigated the collision.
It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
