BREAKING THINGS: Doors closing, doors opening

They say when one door closes, another opens. And that’s the case with Bacchus downtown, owner Patty Amador told me. Amador called after I wrote an item in this week’s Business Beat about Bacchus, a downtown eatery and nightclub, closing.

They say when one door closes, another opens. And that’s the case with Bacchus downtown, owner Patty Amador told me.

Amador called after I wrote an item in this week’s Business Beat about Bacchus, a downtown eatery and nightclub, closing.

She said she never intended to be in the restaurant business long-term, and pointed out that when she put Bacchus up for sale it sold quickly, to someone who plans to open up a sushi restaurant in the spot.

“I think it’ll be a good thing for downtown, to have something different there,” Amador said. I’m hoping to talk to the new owners about their plans for an upcoming column.

In other door-opening news, I’ll be writing this week about a new party store by Vintage Faire Mall and a new restaurant/catering place in Turlock.
