100 YEARS AGO: Modesto and Hughson high schools competed in a rugby match. The Panthers defeated the Bulldogs 10-0. Modesto was able to score the winning points in the last seven minutes of the match; most of the match, neither side was able to make any visible gain against the other. This was the first match for both teams, as neither school had competed in rugby before.
